Neil began his career as a trainee at Ipswich Town in 1992.

He spent a total of 6 years at Portman Road before leaving to represent Chesterfield, Scunthorpe, Torquay, Peterborough and Colchester United.

Neil then went State side and plied his trade for the Boston Bulldogs before returning to England to play with Canvey Island.
