Profile

Tony began his football career at his boyhood favourites Birmingham City, for whom he signed schoolboy forms in 1983.

The was then soon to be selected as one of the first intake at the FA/GM National School of Excellence based at Lilleshall, at the age of 14. Tony spent the best part of two years based in Shropshire where he was lucky enough to represent England at schoolboy, Under 15, Under 16 and Under 17, playing at Wembley Stadium on three occasions.

Upon graduating from Lilleshall, Tony went back home to continue his football education with Birmingham City, signing pro forms on his seventeenth birthday.

During a career that lasted 13 years he went on to play nearly 300 games for Birmingham City, Hereford United, Huddersfield Town, Carlisle United, Cardiff City and Scarborough, where his career was cruelly cut short at the age of 29 by a back injury.

TTony now spends the majority of his week concentrating on the development of many young goalkeepers at his No1 Keeper Club coaching sessions. He also has a role within the Liverpool Football Club Academy as goalkeeping coach and scout working regularly with the academy goalkeepers and at the goalkeeping satellite centre in Preston that was set up over three years ago and has already produced a number of goalkeepers that have signed to the academy. Tony also now works on many of the Liverpool FC Community Programme's Soccer Camps in many areas of Europe as the lead goalkeeper coach.

Tony is also the goalkeeper coach for the England Futsal Team and has been since January 2008. Tony has been to the World Cup Qualifiers in Hungary (March 2008) with the team to work with and assess the goalkeepers as well as a four team tournament in Caen, France (October 2008) involving France, Macedonia, Holland and England. Tony was also present when the team took part in another four team tournament, this time at Loughborough University, the teams taking part this time were England, Libya, Lithuania and Republic of Ireland.
