Vinnie was on Morton’s books as a schoolboy and signed apprentice forms for Leeds in July 1985, turning professional in July 1987. He featured strongly for the Junior and Reserve teams but could not quite make the transition to a higher level.
He was given his chance in the last two fixtures of the 1987-88 campaign by Billy Bremner but was not given a chance by Howard Wilkinson.
After a two month trial with Doncaster Rovers he was sold to them for £15,000 in March 1989 by Joe Kinnear. He prospered with Rovers as Billy Bremner took over and gave him another chance. After fifty-four games, in which he scored seven goals, he was released by Doncaster Rovers in the summer of 1991, when injuries dictated that he could no longer play League football.
He is currently Assistant Manager of Bradford Park Avenue F.C.
