By the end of the school summer term 2010, SpeedMark will have entertained nearly 1 Million kids in thousands of schools since the initiative began back in early 2003!
We aim to make our events as fun as possible for all concerned as well as helping to raise much needed funds for schools.
In that time we have distributed over 80,000 Mitre footballs – both in to the hands of children that have taken part in events and also direct to the schools that have held events.
In the academic year 09/10 we will hand out 60,000 footballs direct to children in a year that will see us hold approximately 1000 school event days!
On the back of the governments pledge to ban the “no ball games” culture, we will also be giving away thousands of free footballs to schools – purely for children to use during play sessions.
Ed Balls, the Children’s Secretary has initiated a 10 year plan to reintroduce balls of all sports into the everyday life of the nation’s youth in a plan to end the “no balls culture”.
SpeedMark are 100% behind this plan and have invested heavily in this as part of our ongoing football events in schools. Nick Palich, Chief Operating Officer for SpeedMark, commented, “We remain completely committed to our plan of distributing footballs as part of our incentives to children, and also by giving schools free footballs specifically for the children to use in school time, whether it be in play time, PE classes or after school clubs”.
